The City of Decorah Street Department is responsible for hundreds of miles of streets and alleys, as well as, many parking lots in the downtown area. The Street Department is located at 108 Railroad Avenue. The hours of operation are 7 am to 4 pm, Monday through Friday.

Street Department’s Major Responsibilitites:
-
General street repairs-including pot hole repair and minor street and curb repair/replacement
-
Maintain storm water intakes and maintain ditches in right-of-way
-
Maintain Dry Run Flood Control Project-including mowing, removing encroaching vegetation, and excessive sediment buildup
-
Reponsible for installation and maintenance of all City street signs and pavement markings
-
Clean streets with a street sweeper
-
Operate the Yard Waste Site-including recycling yard waste into compost and brush/small limbs into wood chips for use by anyone
-
Fall leaf cleanup-allows residents to rake only leaves into the curb for collection by the street department-October 1 to November 15
-
Discharging interior ponding waters during periods of high river stages

Storm damage to trees
