Whenever the city experiences a snowfall which accumulates to a depth of one inch or more, a snow emergency shall automatically be in effect.
Snow Emergency Procedures requires all curbside vehicles be parked on the side of the street where buildings bear EVEN NUMBERS until such time as the snow has been removed or plowed from the opposite side of the street. At that time, vehicles should then be moved to the side of the street where buildings bear ODD NUMBERS. When both sides have been plowed, normal parking regulations resume.
Violations: In order to aid snow removal, vehicle owners are reminded that no street, public alley, or highway may be used for storage purposes. The city has the authority to ticket and/or impound vehicles parked for a period of time exceeding forty-eight (48) hours at the owner’s expense.
It is the responsibility of property owners to promptly remove snow and ice accumulations from sidewalks abutting their property.
Violations: If the city is required to remove snow and ice obstructing free use of sidewalks, costs of such removal, including a $50.00 service charge, will be assessed to the property owner who has failed to abide by the notice to abate.
