Decorah Parks & Recreation is accepting applications for Seasonal Park Aide and Seasonal Landscape Technician. These are temporary (seasonal) positions during the 2020 warm weather season. Knowledge of equipment operation/maintenance, tree/plant identification/maintenance, and any other knowledge required in the respective job description preferred. Valid driver’s license required. Seasonal Landscape Technician

Essential Duties Required:

The Seasonal Landscape Technician works directly under the Park Superintendent or his/her representative. Duties shall include but not limited to mowing, trimming, planting, invasion vegetation removal, painting, cleaning, maintaining park equipment, infrastructure inspections, maintaining park grounds, litter removal, maintaining city flower beds, and assisting with the maintenance of the community garden and prairie.

Additional Duties Required:

The Seasonal Landscape Technician may be asked to preform special tasks such as cutting firewood, assisting with special events, assisting with other department needs, and performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to establish and maintain working relationships with other employees, agencies, and the public.

Working Conditions:

Job requires physical activities including reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, and finger dexterity. Medium work requiring the exertion of up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and up to 20 pounds of force frequently. Work is performed both inside and outside and includes exposure to heat and cold. Work may expose employee to unpleasant social situations, significant work pace pressures, and irregular work hours. Some use and exposure to hazardous materials may occur.
