City of Decorah Thanks Residents for Water Conservation Efforts

Decorah, Iowa — The City of Decorah extends its sincere thanks to residents and businesses for their cooperation in limiting water usage over the past several days. Following recent heavy rains, the sanitary sewer system experienced significantly higher-than-normal flows. Because of the community’s efforts, the City was able to better manage those flows and reduce the risk of backups.

While flows in the system remain elevated and are expected to stay above normal for some time, conditions have stabilized. The City is no longer asking residents to limit their water usage. The publics’ actions made a meaningful difference for our community, and we want to thank everyone who adjusted their daily routines to ease the strain on the sanitary sewer system.

The City will continue monitoring conditions closely and will share updates if future conservation measures become necessary.
