Decorah 2025 Chip Seal Project to Begin
Decorah, IA (August 7, 2025) – Crews under contract with Fahrner Asphalt Sealers, LLC are scheduled to begin work in Decorah on Wednesday August, 13th, weather permitting. Mechanic Street will be closed from Short Street to Water Street for two days and motorists will be detoured onto Mill Street.
Work will also occur on Locust Road from Pine Crest Drive to the City Limits north of Laurel Drive, but a detour will not be necessary.
Both Mechanic Street and Locust Road will experience periodic work to construct a chip seal overlay throughout August with traffic being directed by flaggers.
Work is expected to be completed before August 25th.
The City of Decorah reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
Please call the City Hall at 563-382-3651 with questions.
