Important Changes to Your Water and Sewer Billing

Decorah, IA (July 9, 2026) – The City of Decorah Water & Sewer Utility is implementing several improvements to our billing system beginning July 2026. These changes are designed to provide customers with more timely billing information and better access to water usage data.

  • Starting July 2026, water and sewer bills will be issued monthly rather than on the current billing schedule.
  • Your water consumption will now be shown in gallons instead of cubic feet, making it easier to understand and monitor your water usage.
  • Water usage charges have been removed from the water base rate and will now be reflected separately on your bill. This change provides greater transparency regarding the amount of water used and the associated charges.
  • Beginning with the July 2026 billing cycle, a $1.00 paper bill processing fee will be added to accounts that continue to receive paper statements by mail.
  • To avoid the $1.00 paper bill processing fee, please go to the community portal at https://decorahia.ourcommunityconnect.com and create an account. Customers enrolled in paperless billing will receive their bills electronically and will not be charged the processing fee.
  • All customers are encouraged to sign up for EyeOnWater at https://eyeonwater.com/signup. It is a free service that allows you to view your water usage online, monitor consumption trends, detect unusual usage that may indicate leaks, and access your water use at any time.

Please make sure the City of Decorah has your current phone number so we are able to contact you as soon as possible if a leak has been detected at your residence. To do this, please call City Hall at 563-382-3651.
