FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Decorah City Hall

Press Contact: Keri Sand, City Clerk, 563-382-3651

The City of Decorah will be replacing all water meters within the Decorah City limits. Residents will be receiving a letter from HydroCorp asking to schedule an appointment for the water meter change out. This can be done by contacting HydroCorp by phone at 800-315-4305 OR online at www.watermeterinstall.com using the code provided in your letter.

Below is other information regarding your meter replacement –

  • There are no fees for the replacement of your water meter.
  • HydroCorp employees carry HydroCorp ID badges. Employees will also be outfitted with HydroCorp uniforms branded with the HydroCorp name.
  • The property owner, or a designated representative 18 years of age or older, is required to be present during the water meter replacement.
  • Please keep pets contained during your appointment.
  • Make sure your water meter is unobstructed and accessible. Water meters are typically found inside your home in the basement or lowest level of your house, at times near other devices such as a water heater or water softener.
  • The technician will need to operate the water shut-off valve(s) and will need to remove and replace the meter with both hands. Property owners need to make sure water shut-off valve(s) are fully operable prior to their appointment. If your shut-off valve(s) leak or fail during the meter replacement, it is the property owner’s responsibility to replace or repair the valve(s). If it is found to be unsafe to exchange the meter due to lack of accessibility or because of obvious deterioration of the valves, the meter exchange will have to be rescheduled after the property owner has made the necessary accommodations and repairs.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR COOPERATION IN THIS MATTER.
