Purpose
- The Board of Appeals will consist of five members whose place of business, residence, or work is located in the jurisdictions served by the City of Decorah, Iowa Building Department, and who are qualified by experience and training to pass upon matters pertaining to building construction. The building official or designee shall be an ex-officio member and shall act as secretary of the Board of Appeals.
- To hear and decide appeals concerning the suitability of alternate materials and methods of construction and to hear and decide appeals of determinations made by the building official or designated representative concerning interpretations of the provisions.
- The Board of Appeals, by a majority vote of a quorum, may affirm, modify or withdraw the decision of the building official. The decision of the board of appeals is the final administrative decision. The board shall have no authority to waive requirements of this code.
