Commendation Allegation
Police Officers are faced with a difficult job under the best circumstances. We are in positions to make decisions for people who are unable to, for a plethora of reasons, make decisions for themselves. Police get it right the majority of the time, but sometimes we miss the mark. Even when we get it right, here at Decorah Police Department, we are always looking for ways to improve our services. This commendation allegation form is in place to facilitate the conversation with our community to allow us to know when we got it right and highlight areas we could improve services.
Officers provide many services, and are thanked countless times a day, however, supervisors and bosses do not always know about that. This form allows people who do not want to or do not have the ability to speak to the officer in the moment, still reach out and offer their words of commendation for the service performed, as well as identify areas where change/growth are suggested.
Please note-complaints against officers are investigated-however results of investigations are HR related matters, and investigative results are not shared publicly.
