Last Week for 2019 Curbside Leaf Pickup is 11/25

This week will be the last week for leaf pickup in the City of Decorah. Per City Code, the last day residents could push leaves into the street was November 15th and the last scheduled Ward pickup day was November 22nd. Because of the early snowstorms, the Street Department has been revisiting Wards that had the pickup schedule impacted by the snow. The Street Department has also been working through all Wards this week to pick up additional leaves. With forecasted winter weather on the way the City needs to prioritize snow removal and prepare equipment for clearing snow and spreading sand/salt. Weather permitting, the City will work to pick up leaves that are already in the street but no additional leaves can be pushed into the street.

Residents are still able to drop off leaves at the City’s Yard Waste Site on Trout Run Road. The site has extended fall hours and is currently open 7 AM to 7 PM, seven days a week, until further notice.

Please contact the Street Department at 382-2157 with any questions.

Just a friendly reminder of where the sticks, leaves and misc. things that are raked into the street end up.
Do your part and help us minimize the potential for flooding.
The phots shows debris built up near the city floodgates. This is caused by yard waste and other materials being placed in the streets. Please take your yard waste to the city compost site. This will help to keep our floodgates clear, increase water flow and minimize the risk of flooding. City code only permits leaves to be put in streets Oct 1- Nov 15.
